The Methodist Foundation for Arkansas Seminary Scholarships aims to strengthen United Methodist churches in Arkansas by ensuring strong leadership in our local communities. These seminary scholarships enable some of our best and brightest students to answer God's call and become local church leaders as elders and deacons. Assisting these young people is important and satisfying work, and the MFA's donors have responded generously in making these scholarships possible.
To date, our 41 scholars have served a total of 359 years, in 108 appointments, in congregations, Wesley Foundations, The Methodist Foundation for Arkansas, and in Military Chaplaincy. As of the Fall 2022 semester, Arkansas Methodism has 6 Elders and 4 Deacons in full-time degree programs at six different United Methodist seminaries.
Applications are now open for the Methodist Foundation for Arkansas' 2023 Seminary Scholars program. A limited number of full-tuition scholarships are available now to Arkansas students enrolling/attending a United Methodist seminary with intentions of returning to the state upon graduation. The application deadline for the Elder scholarship is Wednesday, March 15, 2023. The application deadline for the Deacon scholarship is Wednesday, March 15, 2023.
Scholarships are available for persons seeking Ordination as a Deacon or Elder in the Arkansas Annual Conference.
