Churches that have never sent a team will receive stipends for 3-day event in Leawood, Kan.
CONWAY, Ark. (June 5, 2026)—The Methodist Foundation for Arkansas (MFA) will be supporting Arkansas United Methodist congregations in attending Leadership Institute 2026, scheduled for September 30-October 2 at Resurrection, a United Methodist Church in Leawood, Kansas.
This year’s focus will be on providing support for churches that have not attended Leadership Institute before. A limited number of scholarships will be available; churches that apply must have a minimum of three people planning to attend, with no more than one clergyperson in the group. Churches must apply by July 1, and will be notified of their acceptance status on or after July 10.
“For years now, Leadership Institute has provided the kind of learning model that encourages and inspires local churches to do more to reach out to their neighbors,” said the Rev. Mackey Yokem, director of leadership ministries for MFA. “We appreciate what Resurrection and ShareChurch are able to offer, and we want Arkansas United Methodists to be inspired and discover what their congregations might do to better connect with the communities Christ calls them to serve.”
